Hele, dokázal by někdo tohle video přeložit, tedy dát tomu na youtube titulky a potom to nějak i s těmi titulky odkazovat na našem kanálu, já to nedokáži. Je to dost práce. Co myslíš Honzo?

Tak pro začátek mám transkript první části rozhovoru, potřeboval bych aby to někdo zkontroloval a případně doplnil pár míst kde jsem kus věty nechytnul (3 otazníčky). Mezitím budu dělat transkript zbytku.

All right, in Sweden, Jane, you're on camera now.
Hi!
Jane Hamsher of FireDogLake, John Aravosis of AMERICAblog and I don't even know your name.
I'm Rick Falkvinge, I am the party leader of the Swedish Pirate Party.
Ok, and why don't you tell our readers what is the Pirate Party.
We're the next generation of civil liberties movement or rather we're the first politization of what's going on online since at least mid 90's. People are saying that we demand the right to communicate in private even though that might be... we have the... we can communicate corporated works. We demand the right to express our opinions anonymously and we demand the right to freely seek information.
Can you...
Even online.
... something specific, what kind of policy...
Even online. Online as well.
... what kind of policy are we talking about. For example people here have told me that were talking about file sharing was legitimate ???
We were, we were.
Just because...
Go ahead. You ???
Let's just keep it ??? Let me see if I can contextualize it for America. Was there a specific incident that lead to this becoming an issue?
No, it's grown... it's grown gradually. I mean record industry associates, the copyright lobbyists have gradually escalated this to the point where copyright has crept into honest people's bedrooms clad in police uniforms.
We ??? have it in America, the Digital Millenium Copyright Act did respond to the same flood of lobbying.
Right.
So this has been very big. People were put to jail for file sharing or...
Just one.
Just one, aha. And did that...
And they've been fined...
They've been fined like the Pirate Bay guys were fined... I'm translating 30 million Krone which is something like roughly $3 million. So it's growing gradually insane. And people are realizing that. I mean we got... we just... we were just the biggest gainers in the European elections, going from nothing to over 7 percent in the elections in just a year.
And was that across all of Europe? Or was that just in Sweden?
Just in Sweden.
So when you're talking about privacy issues as well, are you talking about... government... the ability of the government to go in and look at your files...
We are. It's part of the whole picture.
We're demanding the right to be free citizens. If we're not under the ??? suspicion of a crime, we demand the right to be free citizens that the government leave us to hack along and assume that we're innocent.
So you're doing both privacy and privacy stuff and... and as well as file sharing.
Right. What...
??? issues that are certainly unified.
Well, they're connected.
Yes.
They are very much connected. I mean, if you have the right to communicate in private, then you can use that right to communicate digital works. Protected works. If copyright is a priority issue over everything else, then you need to wiretap all everybody's private communication to discover when something copyrighted is being transmitted. There is no middle ground. Either you have the right to communicate in private or you don't.
Well, in America, most of the Napster stuff was actually stuff that happens online, so people were file sharing online, it wasn't necessarily in private. That is what's going on, but... What you're telling me that there were privacy issues with regard... That they were actually going into people's emails and finding out if they were file sharing.
Right, but it is private. Every 1 and 0 that leaves or arrives at your computer is private. Because...
Aha, I see what you're saying.
Because if you're to snoop on these 1s and 0s, what you're gonna find is letters to your lawyer, to your doctor, to your preacher, to everybody. Just to find out these pieces, these particular patterns of 1s and 0s that happen to be copyrighted works over one medium or another.
Do you have anything that's like the Digital Millenium Copyright here... Act?
We do, we have a version of it. It's called the European Union Copyright Directive. And it's implemented in various ways in the member states of Europe.
So what are your objectives, politically? What would you like to see done?
First thing, that copyright needs to get out of honest people's bedrooms. It needs to be reduced to commercial activity only. And by that I mean activity that happens within a corporation. Something that you do on your own in private is not commercial, copyright will not ??? does not cover it. We say that the length of copyright today is ludicrous...
Well, that's the other thing. What is your length of copyright, is it the Berne agreement?
We're suggesting five years from publication.
Yes.
Various economic professors suggest between one year from publication to nine years of publication as the optimum point for cultural enrichment and diversity in society. And I mean after all maximizing culture is what copyright is about. If you look at the constitution it says it right there. The purpose of copyright is to promote the progress of sciences and the useful arts.
It's a raid on the public space every time they keep extending the copyright law...
Right.
...and say Mickey Mouse can have twenty five more years so Disney can reap the...
Right. But the purpose of copyright was never to reap... reap rewards or to gain a profit. It was always to maximize the culture.
Right. So what's the resistance to five years, I'm sure it's enormous.
Well, we haven't gotten there yet, it's mostly about getting copyright out of honest people's bedrooms and making sure we have the right to privacy, we have the right to civil liberties online, the same civil liberties that our mothers and fathers fought, bled and died for... are now in a jeopardy because the Internet isn't for real. I mean you can hear people talk like that. "Did you meet on the Internet or did you meet them for real?" You would never hear somebody say "Did you talk on the phone or did you talk for real?"
Do you know what...
"Did you read a newspaper, did you read it for real?" I mean...
Do you have what we call net neutrality issues?
We don't have those issues yet but yes they would definitely be part of our platform.
Because what we're finding in United States and I don't know if it's here is that the whole concept of, you know, maximizing profits means increasing rents on all friends and so we have copyright under assault everywhere, we recently passed an act that gave performance royalties where... on radio where they had been given before, it was basically a wealth transfer from the radio stations to the record companies in the name of the performers who get one percent of that.
Yeah, we see that everywhere, you know. I mean the copyright lobby is so powerful and so everywhere that all the other parties which are more important to our economy don't have a voice. And I think that's very sad and that's one of the things we're trying to change. Basically trying to trick kick the copyright lobby out of Justice department.
Will you have a lot of other jobs in Sweden that are dependent on technology jobs, right?
A lot of them, yes.
Are they sort of saying we have to protect copyright in order to protect these jobs? Or what... I'm just wondering if...
No, I mean it's the other way around. If you look at home electronics, if you look at broadband, if you look at pretty much anything related to electronics that isn't the entertainment industry...
But software...
...then it gains from lowering copyright.
Yes, but software tends to be, like Microsoft has a very big interest in protecting its copyright on its software and that's something that would be...
Well, Microsoft would be a player but they aren't.
Oh, Ok.
Not in Sweden.
So, are there any bills in Sweden that are sort of coming forth that you're trying to influence?
Yeah, there are. First, there's one bill that makes my mobile phone a governmental tracking device, that forces the operators to record every call I make, every SMS I send, every email I send and how this device moves through city for the authorities. That's insane. I mean that's a Stasi zwei null.
Who's putting that bill forward, is it... what party, is there coalition or is... who backs that?
It was the last administration's Minister for Justice, Thomas Bodström, who used the Brussels ??? he knew he couldn't get this from national parliament so he went through the European Parliament in Brussels put it through there with the help of a lot of other european ministers for justice and so now it's returning to parliament as something "Oh, this comes from Brussels, we have to implement it." No, we don't. If there's choice between honoring the integrity of honest citizens and doing whatever Brussels says, then it's up yours Brussels.
Is this on left-right coalition, is this primarily a...
The pirate party?
Yes.
We draw people from all over. That's the funniest part of it. I mean we knew that we were a good mix of left and right but when you look at the exit polls, we actually saw that in hard data. We draw people from all over in even numbers. It's right across the line.
Why the increase?
What?
Why the increase in popularity recently? What do you think caused it?
The conflict escalates, all the time. I mean we know a lot of people agree with us. That's not the issue getting people to agree with us. They do that already. The issue is how many people think these issues are important enough to lay there actually vote on us. And that's where the escalation of conflict comes in. If these conflicts escalate, more people will vote for us because they already believe as we believe that the Internet needs to be free in a democratic reign.Chceš, aby organizace fungovala? Just really quickly, explain to our readers how this even works in the process and how did you guys even get a vote... get a seat in the parliament. How does this work in your...
Wow.
You have to get X percents or what was the...
Wow, that's big. Ok, so just shortly...
An easy explanation, yeah.
Right. Every citizen gets to vote, every citizen above 18 gets to vote, you gotta get your ideas out there. We don't have a two party system but we actually have many many small parties. I think there were 11 or 12 fighting for seats in European Parliament. Sweden has 18 seats out of the 736 so us getting 7 percent of the national vote total meant we got one seat of those 18. Now it might not... it might just be one seat of 736 but we got there a very very narrow platform, we got there civil liberties online alone. And that's important because that made us the funniest animal in all of zoo. Of these 736 seats. So we have an immense international spotlight on us right now.
My last question unless Jane's got anything else. Why did... I know you guys aren't directly connected with the Pirate Bay, right?
We're not directly connected.
But there's some kind of...
Right. You can think of us... you can think of the Pirate Bay and the Pirate Party or pirate parties as you say because there's several of us in different countries as more or less Green Peace and Green Parties. They're activists, we're politicians. We share the same values and ideals, they go about making action out of it, we go the parliamentary route.
Ok, because the Pirate Bay got involved in helping Iranian ??? to figure out how to ??? around safely...
Yes, they're activists. We ??? them quite as well. We're doing quite a bit of activism but we also ???
I was just curious about the connection there. Because I wouldn't think of you as a group that gets involved in any of the... sort of human rights ??? or whatever necessarily but what's the connection with Iran you think?
Well, we don't choose sides in Iran but we do help people communicate. We believe that free communication is basic human right and suppression of that is as oppressive tool that should be denied to governments. So free communication. That's what we stand for. Civil liberties online as well as offline. That ??? to everybody without choosing sides in a conflict.
So why would you say that the Pirate Party is stronger in Sweden than it is in the rest of Europe?
I believe it's because we had early broadband rollout in Sweden.
Oh yes?
10 years ago, I had 10 megabit fiber to my apartment in 1998. Today, 100 megabit is the norm in most Swedish apartments and gigabit connections are... well, heard of. They're not that uncommon. And if you go across Europe today, I mean people have 2 megabits, 12 megabits... People here don't ask to have ADSL or cable. Everybody has fiber. We don't piggyback on yesterday's technologies.
That's interesting. So where do you...
So, getting to my point, sorry. We... Since broadband rollout was that early, just taking one example. When you can download a movie in 4 minutes instead of 3 days, it kickstarts the public's perception of how this technology can and maybe should be used. When you put that kind of disruptive technology into the hands of everybody, it becomes politics. So I think it also kickstarted here. We just live a little bit ahead of curve of a discussion that's coming to everywhere.
I agree and in Americe it's interesting because it's very much the liberals versus the demand the conservative liberal candidates come together for civil liberties but it hasn't reached the level of concern or saturation that it has here even though broadband is quite pervasive. But I think it's interesting and trying to understand how everybody became so concerned with it. Is it just because people are very interconnected with their issues, moments and you think it should enrage people or let them engaged?
Well, the ??? Pirate Bay were certainly a catalyst. I mean, when people that are heroes in the eyes of most people got one year in prison and a 3 million damage... 3 million... were... had to pay 3 million in damages, sorry. I mean people all of a sudden realized that we hadn't been crying wolf but that damn wolf was clawing at their front door. So I think that was a wake up call for a lot of people.
Do you get national security being involved for some of these things because that's what we get all the time. "We have to do this for national security."
Oh yes, all the time. I mean, when there was general wiretapping law pushed through last year, I mean, saying that all phone calls, all ??? that happens across the country's borders is now wiretapped by government. And... Okay, so at least we get a law about it. But I mean you don't know when your call happens across national borders just for technical reasons so we went from "you have the right to privacy" to "you're always wiretapped, have a nice day, citizen" with a stroke of a pen. And that caused a major outcry. And that was basically when we went in the eyes of the public from being a file sharing party to civil liberties party.
When do you think... when was that? How many years ago?
Last summer.
Oh, really? It's that recently? Wow. I think it's fascinating. We just haven't been able to generate that level of interest in United States yet. I think people are still very much buying the national security arguments. But do you think that the whole national security argument is sort of a ruse for economic interests ??? are protecting?
Well, there're certainly economic interests that benefit from this national security. But no, I don't think so.
You really think ???
I think it's politicians that want to look tough on terrorists or tough on... tough on threats. But I mean, once you say that these civil liberties need to give in to national security, once you state that this particular interest overrides civil liberties that are supposed to be absolute, once you surrender the absoluteness of civil liberties, there's... you're on a slipping slope that there's really no end to. You can justify anything, any reduction of civil liberties with national security. Right to the point where it's a crime to hide your most private details from law enforcement because you would otherwise be on the side... you would otherwise be a terrorist or potential criminal.
Look at United States, we've lost Habeas Corpus, we've got indefinite detention now, ??? much other we never thought these things are possible.
There you go.
We thought it was a ??? of democracy.
Right. There you go. Exactly. That's what I'm talking about.
We're all ??? the same thing, we're just a little bit behind you.
Well, you need to politicize and you have a two party system, so it's much harder. You can't hack democracy the way we do, you can't... you can't aim at 5 percent and be the tie breaker and sit down, determine who becomes the next prime minister. Because if you would, you would be able to hack the system and get civil liberties back in return for the prime ministry. That's how we... that's...
And that's how you're looking at next year?
Yes, that's our strategy. Be the tie breaker. We... 5 percent, that's all we need to get all our wishes true.
Wow.
But were you guys... were you guys actively trying to get the 5 percent? I mean was this a little bit of ??? or did you guys actually organize extensively for this election, trying to get the 5 percent? Or ???
??? This was hardly a rehearsal for next year when our national election is. We need the national... we need to be the tie breaker in national parliament to get our civil liberties back. That's what we're aiming for. This was hardly a rehearsal for that but also a huge legitimizer (???) for our ideas. I mean, pirates got into parliament!
Other election... What's going on in other European countries as far as trying to get representation in their parliaments as well? In the local parliaments?
Oh yeah, there're pirate parties in most states of Europe. And the German Piratenpartei did particularly well, they got 0.9 percent, that may not sound like much but that means they got public funding which is a huge boost for their... well, everything they do basically.
So do you have public funding?
Nope, we don't. Even though when we got 7.1 we don't get public funding.
Why not?
We need more than 2.5 in a national election to get that in Sweden.
I see.
This wasn't national election.
But in 2010 you anticipate that... cross your fingers all that long.
We're hoping for the best.
That would be great. Well, congratulations, this is very exciting.
Well, thank you.
