I am currently researching for my Master's thesis at the Humboldt-University of Berlin about the transparency of the ACTA negotiations. In a nutshell, my thesis deals with the question what effects intransparency has on negotiations in the European Union. Or in other words: Is intransparency helping or impeding the EU Commssion's efforts to attain its negotiation goals?

After I have followed the various publications and event invitations on ACTA protests of the Czech Pirate Party due to my research, I am confident that a few words on the topic by your organization would be very helpful to analyze the issue at hand in the best way possible.

Therefore I have a few questions that you can answer (or not answer) any way you prefer.

1. Point of time of interest:

Did you (or your organization) have interest in or publicly deal with the ACTA negotiation process before the negotiations were over in may 2011?

1.1 If YES:

What impression do you (or your organization) have about the transparency of ACTA negotiations? Did you have enough possibilities to inform yourselves or even influence the political process?

1.2 If NO:

Why did your interest (or that of your organization) to get informed about ACTA or influence the political process not start earlier when the treaty was still negotiated?

2. Focus of interest:

To what specific contents of ACTA have you informed yourself about or influenced the political process? Do you (or your organization) think there was still change necessary in the final version?

3. Own contribution:

What contribution to the voting result at the EU Parliament (or at the national governments / parliaments) would you assess to yourself (or your organization)? Compared to the average citizen, what influence on the political debate about ACTA do you think you have?

3. Estimated interest of the Commission:

What interest, in your opinion, did the EU Commission have to negotiate ACTA in the way it did?
