Vyzkum ohledne globalni perspektivy Piratskeho hnuti

fraeuleinmorisse@hotmail.de píše:Dear Pirates worldwide, dear PP-CZ, dear Tomas

My name is Monique and I am writing my MA-Thesis in ‘Global Studies’ about the ‘Pirate Parties’ Global Perspective’ and notions on democracy. Therefore, I interviewed several PP members from different countries at the PPI General Assembly last weekend in Prague. Since the GA took place in Prague, my interviews are - so far – pretty Eurocentric. That is the reason behind writing you. I would like to have a worldwide perspective – as far as possible.

Below, I have written down my questions that I have asked other Pirates before. Now, I would be very happy, if anyone in your party can find the time to answer these questions (in written form) as well. Hence, more answers mean a more differentiated picture (and less physically boundedness of the research). Also if you would like, we could set up a Skype interview, which would be helpful as well.

Additionally, the research will be accessible for everyone that is interested in the topic. Thus, you can get your own copy if you wish. I am planning to finish my thesis in September.

The questionnaire will take approx. 10-20 minutes to answer. If you want to stay anonymous for the research, just make up a name and indicate it with an (anon.) after you ‘name’. Please also indicate, if you are answering personally or as a spokesman of your Pirate Party.

The ‘deadline’ is somewhat lose (so you have enough time), but it would be great, if I can receive the answers until the 10th of May. In general, the earlier the better. If you cannot manage to answer the questions until then, but you want to participate, please write me and let me know what timeframe would be appropriate for you. If there are questions that seem unclear to you, leave them blank or write me and I try to formulate them better. If you do not have an opinion on a question, please indicate that through a (n.o.).

I have also attached a pdf-document, where you can find more information about my research, my studies, and myself in order that you can make yourself a better picture. Of course, if you have any further questions of any kind, please do not hesitate to write me an E-mail.

So please, it would be wonderful if you, or someone in your party can find the time to fill out the questions below.

Thank you in advance for your time and effort.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Have a great day

Cheers

Monique

Moje odpoved:
  • Tom Vymazal
  • 22
  • Head of the International Relations dept.
  • Because I wanted to change the world for the better.
  • It's the only political party that is both non-hypocritical and cool.
  • I don't really understand the question. Maybe because neither history nor geography are my hobbies, maybe I'm just ignorant.
  • Not yet, but it will be. Because information and the Internet, its vigilant and ever-growing conduit, will be the key elements of the human society in the years to come, no political movement (whether called "the Pirate Party" or however else) will be able to deal with the contemporary issues unless they bear the Pirate ideals in mind.
  • The Czech Pirate Party is quite well known among the Pirate parties. It is one of the founding members of the PPI and I dare say that next to the Swedish and German Pirates, we're the most influential party of the Pirate movement.
  • I'd say the bigger the realm the harder to govern or rule it wisely. I am a fan of organic structures that grow as long as it's beneficial and split when further growing isn't beneficial any more. Since most governments aren't able to rule their own country wisely and well, I am very pesimistic towards any king of unified governance like the EU or a possible Global Governance. Once every person is able to govern themselves and such system works fine, then we can talk about further unification of the world. But, of course, once everybody governs themselves, there's no need for any government at all. What I mean to say is referendum, referendum, referendum...
  • Pirate parties bring transparence, political responsibility, rational copyright and patent laws, legalization of drugs and new technologies to the table. These things all put together will prevent the real bad guys from exploiting people and making them pay for things they don't have to pay for, goverments from selling their environment to multinational companies for huge "provisions", criminal syndicates from selling drugs anybody could buy in the drug store, migration from being a problem and patent trolls from preventing people to grow food free of stupid fees for usage of the so called intellectual property.
  • I don't want to deal with issues on a global scale :)
  • I don't want to deal with issues on a global scale :)
  • I am gonna speak for myself: I don't really understand the question. Democracy is the only way and I'd like it to be as liquid as possible. Further than that I really don't understand the question.
  • Liquid democracy would bring about the possibility for people to decide for themselves. That can bring both problems and solution of problems. We only need to educate people to act responsibly and give them the power to exercise this responsibility. The current system gives people the right to vote once every four years or so, but demands the responsibility for their actions every day. I believe this is a big issue.
  • I have no idea what that means.
  • Everything that doesn't involve only one person should be included in the political debate. The only question is whether people from a given house, village, city, province, country or planet should vote on a given issue.
  • We intend to make political participation cool and make young people know that being a politician or even just a member of a political party is a good time investment and can also be a lot of fun. In Czechia the biggest problem with politics is that it seems dirty to everybody. And it probably mostly is dirty. But we have to explain to people that they can dilute the dirt if they themselves enter a poltical party of their chosing and try to change it from inside.
  • I think the PP is gonna be a parliamentarian party polling somewhere around 15%, because it's gonna take us much longer than that to make people understand. I'd like there to be no need for a PP in 15 years.
